Ganzo’s Mexican Restaurant builds Trump Wall for 5K race

A Cinco de Mayo 5k had a few new features for their 2016 race, including their own “Trump Wall,” inspired by Donald Trump.

DAVENPORT, Iowa-- A Cinco de Mayo 5k had a few new features for their 2016 race, including their own "Trump Wall," inspired by Donald Trump.

The 5k, put on by Ganzo's Mexican Restaurant, didn't stop there - they touched on another controversial topic.

Runners had the option to either climb over the wall to the finish line or to go through it using a tunnel built into the wall called  "El Chapo's Secret Tunnel."

"All [the Trump Wall] is, is just a play on a current affair. We're being a little politically incorrect but we're just having fun with a hot topic," said Joe Moreno, director of the race.

The race Saturday, May 7,  had a record turnout; more than 800 people showed up.  That's double the number of runners who participated last year.

Proceeds made from Ganzo's 5K race will be donated to the Autism Society of the Quad Cities.
