Four fallen Iowa officers added to Peace Officers’ Memorial, honored for service

Four fallen officers were honored with a ceremony in Des Moines Friday, May 6, by the state of Iowa.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Four fallen officers were honored with a ceremony in Des Moines Friday, May 6, by the state of Iowa. The officers names were officially added to the Peace Officers' Memorial, reports the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

Des Moines officers killed in the March 26 crash on I-80, Susan Farrell and Carlos Puente-Morales, were honored at the ceremony.

Ames police Sgt. Howard James Snider drowned while off duty in 2012 due to complications with an injury he had received on duty. Iowa Parole Board Field Agent Albert Paul was killed February 1938 in a single car crash while on duty as he was transporting a parolee from California to Iowa.

The 10 a.m. ceremony was attended by Iowa Gov. Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds.
