DAVENPORT, Iowa--The Davenport city council met Tuesday to discuss what they can do to keep the airshow in the city for years to come.

The airshow director, Ken Hopper plans to move forward with this year's show but has canceled the show in 2017. The show has been in Davenport for over 30 years.

During the council meeting Mayor Frank Klipsch says he has yet to sit down with Hopper to talk about what the city can do to keep the show in the city.

"I would like to meet with Mr. Hopper and let's talk about what the issues are and try to find ways that we can both find the middle ground for the long term continuation for this very important event for the Quad Cities," he says.

The airshow is one of the highest funded special events supported by the city of Davenport. The show gets about $35,000 in support.
