MOLINE, Illinois-- The sound of power tools and hammers hacking away at old floor boards was almost enough to wake a neighborhood on an early Saturday morning, but for 77 year-old  Patricia Marsh and her daughter it was a sound of relief.

"It means a lot I raised three children in this house, I've been here 40 years. Just to have a new shower and a new toilet. You know I told them I'm going to give them all a kiss and hug for it," Marsh said.

The old toilet and floor boards were water damaged and started to deteriorate.  However, volunteers from the organization "Rebuilding Together" in the Quad Cities built her a brand new bathroom from the ground up.

A new sink, shower, toilet and a whole new floor were all installed.

This project is worth well over $10 thousand but Rebuilding Together did the job for free. It was made possible through donated funds and free labor.

This project is a part of the organization's plan to help low income homeowners by working on home improvement projects in both the spring and summer months. They worked on 5 other houses Saturday and plans to schedule more outside projects once the rainy weather clears up.

Volunteers can sign up online or contact the organization through their website.
