Buying a wedding gift for a newlywed couple has been made easier with wedding registries, but surprisingly less than half of guests take that route.
In 2015 and 2016 only about a third of wedding gifts came from the couple’s registry, according to American Express. The other most popular gifts were cash and gift cards.
Also, wedding guests expect to spend more on gifts for family members than for friends in 2016; an average of $127 for relatives and $99 for friends.
