15-year-old identified as Rock Island murder victim

The Rock Island County Coroner has identified the victim of a fatal shooting to be Jescie Armstrong, 15, of Rock Island.

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois — The Rock Island County Coroner has identified the victim of a fatal shooting to be Jescie Armstrong, 15, of Rock Island.

Armstrong was shot in his home around 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 27. Coroner Brian Gustafson said he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Unity Point-Trinity Medical Center.

Gustafson later confirmed that Armstrong had suffered a single gunshot to the head.

An arrest warrant was issued for Kire G. Carr, 17, of Rock Island in connection with the shooting. Carr is described as a black male, about 135 pounds and standing 6-foot tall with brown eyes and hair. Carr is wanted for first degree murder.

Carr should be considered to be armed and dangerous.

The Rock Island Police Department and Rock Island County coroner's office is investigating the homicide.
