DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Three men were arrested after reportedly being involved in a chain of incidents including shots fired, a police chase, and trying to light a car on fire.

Gunfire that was reported near 3rd and Pine Streets around 10:45 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2016, had apparently stemmed from an arson attempt in the 1300 block of Warren Street, according to a statement from the Davenport Police Department.

Three men, 19-year-old Salvador Garcia, 18-year-old Sergio Garcia, and 33-year-old Juan Garcia-Vasquez, had previously poured gasoline on a parked car that they were trying to light on fire, police said.  The attempt was cut short when they were chased away.

"They reportedly were being chased by subjects in an SUV in the 2700 block of Rockingham when the vehicles collided causing damage to both vehicles and a utility pole," read the statement from Davenport Police.

It was not clear when this reported arson attempt happened.

Police said after the gunshots near 3rd and Pine Streets were reported Sunday night, officers tried to pull over a vehicle they saw leaving the area.   About a half-mile from there, near South Elmwood Avenue and McKinly Avenue, a police chase started.

The "brief vehicle pursuit" ended in the 2100 block of West 1st Street when the people inside the suspect vehicle got out and ran, Davenport Police said.  The vehicle was left in gear and it crashed into a parked car, causing minor damage.  Police also found a .22 caliber rifle in the vehicle.

That's when Salvador Garcia, Sergio Garcia, and Juan Garcia-Vasquez were arrested, the statement says.  All three were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony - third-degree arson.  Additionally, Salvador was charged with eluding, failure to maintain control, no insurance, and interference with injury; Sergio was also charged with intimidation with a weapon and interference; Juan was also charged with interference with injury.

All three were later released on bond.

Police did not elaborate on the charges, but the statement said that there were no injuries or damages reported in Sunday night's shots fired incident.
