MOLINE, Illinois –

Youngsters at Seton Catholic School in Moline were digging in to get a head start on Earth Day 2016.

They gave Browning Park a good going-over on Thursday afternoon.

Sixth graders put their rakes into action at Browning Park while 7th and 8th graders fanned out to different locations.

“We just go there and try to help out and clean up,” said sixth grader Sylee Prudent.

Their work is helping to make the park look great.

It sets the tone for Earth Day 2016 activities all over the Quad Cities.

“It’s just fun,” Prudent continued.  “You get to talk to everyone and work.  It really looks nice when you finish it and clean up everything.”

It’s also a great example of volunteer service.

Earth Day 2016 takes place on Friday, April 22.
