Woman charged with two Burlington gas station robberies

Two armed robberies within a week of each other led to the arrest of a Burlington woman.

Two armed robberies within a week of each other led to the arrest of a Burlington woman.

Police say 28-year-old Emiley Kristina Devore has been charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree robbery.

The first-degree robbery charge stems from an armed robbery at the Hy-Vee Gas Station on Agency Street Tuesday, April 12, 2016, according to a statement from Lt. Jeff Klein with the Burlington Police Department.  In that incident, Devore was accused of showing a knife and demanding cash.

The second-degree robbery charge is from an armed robbery at River Mart, also on Agency Street Monday, April 18, Klein's statement said. In that incident, Devore implied that she had a gun, police said.

Both robberies happened around 9 o'clock at night and she got away with an undetermined amount of cash from each store, police say.  Also in both instances, the robber "discarded the masks and exterior clothing that had been worn" as she fled the store.

On Tuesday, April 19, police took Devore in for questioning.

"Additional investigation revealed identifying marks and clothing on Devore, leading to investigators confirmation that Devore was responsible for these robberies," said Klein's statement.

Devore was arrested and taken to the Des Moines County Correctional Center.
