Man accused of making meth at Burlington home

Investigators found drugs and paraphernalia at a house in a Burlington neighborhood.

While conducting a search of the 2000 block Gnahn Street home, detectives found scales, packaging material, packaged marijuana, and crystal meth

“Also found at the residence were empty pseudoephedrine packaging, used lithium strips, used coffee filters, suspected camping fuel, plastic bottles and tubing consistent with one-pot meth manufacturing,” the statement said.

Police said 33-year-old Quinton Anthony Smothers, the only occupant at the home, was arrested for manufacturing meth over five grams, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was held a the Des Moines County Correctional Center on bond.

The Iowa DNE, Burlington Police Department, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, and the Burlington Fire Department assisted the task force with the investigation.
