ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - Local companies and several students were recognized by the Better Business Bureau for their ethics and integrity at a ceremony Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in Rock Island.

Four area companies received the prestigious BBB Torch Award for Ethics, which recognizes ethical business practices and marketplace trust.

"It says a lot of what we've been trying to do over the years and it feels really good to be noticed for that and recognized for that award," said Angela Moody, CEO for Arrowhead Ranch.

Three area high school seniors were also recognized, with the award and an Integrity Scholarship of $2,500 apiece.  The students include Seth Bolen from Clinton High School, Bo Lindstrom from Geneseo High School, Tristan Akers from Cambridge High School.

"This just means a whole lot to me," Akers said, "My ethical values are very much in line with what the BBB espouses, and it just means a lot to me."

The students must be recommended by a school official, and their entry criteria include involvement in school and the community, future plans, and an essay.
