MILAN, Illinois - Maria Canarr lost everything when her home was burned down, she's asking for the public's help to get back on her feet. It's not easy for her to go back and look at the damage.

"It's very hard for me to look at it makes my stomach nauseous," said Maria Canarr.
Her grandson, who lives with her, was home when the fire started; he got out through a window. Her grandson's cat and her dog, Sugar, didn't make it.
"My dog was like my world, she was the light in my life," said Canarr.
Right now, Maria and her grandson are living with her daughter a couple blocks away and she has to start from scratch, figuring out where to begin has been a challenge.
"To prioritize is very hard when you've lost everything you've ever had," said Canarr.
Her 14-year-old grandson was home-schooled and she is hoping she can get him a new computer for his school work.
"I tried to give my grandson everything that I didn't have," said Canarr.
It hasn't been an easy time, but the High Cliff Estates neighborhood has been very helpful and Maria hopes to be able to get a new home there.
"This is my home, this is where I belong and this is where I'll stay no matter what," said Canarr.
A fund has been set up at Triumph Community Bank under 'High Cliff Estates Fire Fund' for anyone who would like to donate. There will also be a benefit on May 7th.
