EFFINGHAM, Illinois — An Illinois woman has been sentenced to 2 years of probation, 30 hours of community service and $1,367 in court costs for stealing more than $93,500  from an elderly man’s trust account and life insurance account, according to the Illinois State Police Medicaid Fraud Control Bureau.

Lola White, 53, of Shumway, Illinois was the administrator of Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation in Effingham. She was accused of transferring money from the elderly resident’s accounts into her personal bank account while she was the man’s trustee and Power of Attorney.

White was charged April 1, 2016 and accepted a pre-negotiated plea agreement. The $93,632.36 was paid back in full to the man’s account.

“The men and women of the ISP MFCB are committed to combatting fraudulent activity of those involved in the Medicaid program. Our investigators are highly motivated when an investigation involves those most vulnerable,” said Illinois State Patrol Captain Brian Ley.

On Tuesday, Governor Rauner signed Executive Order 16-05, creating the Health Care Fraud Elimination Task Force which will help in the fight against agency Medicaid fraud, waste and abuse.

“Those who cheat our state, especially by exploiting our most vulnerable, deserve to face punishment,” said Rauner.
