MUSCATINE, Iowa — As the final town on the 2016 RAGBRAI route, Muscatine, Iowa made sure to have a motivational theme for riders.
“Muscle Down To Mussel Town” was chosen out of dozens of submissions, according to a statement from the Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The theme is a play on the physical exertion the riders put forth and ties it in with Muscatine’s history as the former “Pearl Button Capitol of the World.”
“We were thrilled to have received so many theme submissions,” said Janet Morrow, RAGBRAI Muscatine Project Lead. “It’s great to see our community getting involved in this annual state-wide event that will show off our beautiful riverfront and community to 15,000 or more national and international visitors on July 30th.”
The theme and logo were designed by Dennis Palmer.
RAGBRAI XLIV starts in Glenwood on Saturday, July 23, 2016. Riders will travel 419.9 miles on the ride, and will climb 18,488 feet before they reach the Mississippi River in Muscatine.
