MOLINE, Illinois-- On Monday, April 4, 2016 it starts all over again.

The Illinois Department of Transportation kicks off the final phase of a three-year project to widen one of the most traveled roads in the Quad Cities.

"We're looking forward to a good summer, and we appreciate everyone's patience," says IDOT engineer John Wegmeyer.

But for some drivers, patience will be hard to come by when driving on John Deere Road.

"Of course it's going to get worse. Rush hour mornings, people have to go to work. So with all the construction going on, it's just a hassle that shouldn't happen right now," says driver Brian Ohaver.

Some are already planning to change their routine, but they say they recognize the end results will be well worth their traffic troubles.

"I think it's actually going to better the road back here for allowing more travel. It would be better than what it is now being backed up all the time," says driver Tracy Phelps.

The construction will widen John Deere Road, adding one additional lane in each direction. The project is expected to last until 2018 with work being done day and night.

"Be extra aware as you drive when you can't see as well. And be on the lookout of all construction workers. We'll do what we can to get done as quickly as we can with as little impact for the traveling public as we can," says Wegmeyer.

IDOT engineers say the project won't directly impact side business roads.
