MOLINE, Illinois — Hancock Fabrics is officially selling off all its stock and preparing to close the last of its stores. The only store in the Quad Cities is located at 3911 16th Street in Moline, Illinois.
On Saturday, April 2, the store's windows were full of "Going out of business" sales signs and the parking lot was mostly full as shoppers perused the clearance items.
Hancock Fabrics offers crafting supplies, home decor and furniture. Right now, all stores are offering items between 20-50 percent off. All sales are final.
The company had filed for bankruptcy in 2007 and closed over 100 stores but was ultimately unable to bounce back. In February 2016, the company once again filed for bankruptcy and announced a restructuring plan.
"We believe the restructuring is a positive step for the future of the Company and we are committed to providing our customers quality fabrics and crafting essentials, both online and in stores. We value our relationships with our vendors and appreciate their support throughout this process. We will continue to offer the same unparalleled service for which the Company has been known since its founding in 1957," said Steve Morgan, President and Chief Executive Officer.
At that time, the company owned 250 locations in 37 states.
