Some new recipes can come from some seasoned cooks.

"You know, when I used to cook for the Royal Neighbors Home, one of the residents came up to me and said 'Have you ever tried New England Boiled Dinner'?", said Chef Brad Scott, director of Scott Community College's Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Center in Bettendorf.

"So I tried it and it was a hit."

1.  Place a large ham bone with plenty of ham on it in the middle of as Dutch oven
2.  Add half of a pulled apart cabbage (you can add more or less depending on taste)
3,  Cut new potatoes into quarters and add to the pot
4.  Add large slices of a whole onion
5.  Add cut up celery
6.  Add finger-length carrots
7.  Add 1/4 cup parsnips
8.  Add 1/4 cup
9.  Add 1 Tbsp cut up garlic
10.  Add 1 tsp salt
11.  Add 1 Tbsp pepper
12.  Add 4 cups of beef base (or beef bullion)
13.  Cover and boil for two hours

"This is a perfect way to utilize a ham, so buy plenty," says Chef Scott.

"Thank you to the ladies of Royal Neighbors Grandview Terrace.    Enjoy."
