A Moline High School student has been named Youth of the Year.
Junior, Christian Sotero, received the honorable title from the Boys & Girls Clubs (BGCA) of the Mississippi Valley. From here, Sotero will go to the BGCA 2016-2017 Youth of the Year event in Bloomington, Illinois.
“Participation in the BGCA’s National Youth of the Year program is the highest honor a club member can achieve,” said a statement from the school district. Participants are eligible to get scholarships and to advance to a regional event in Washington, D.C.
The Youth of the Year program has been around since 1947. It promotes service to the Club, community and family as well as academic success, strong morals, life goals, and poise.
