A spokesman with the Davenport Police Department says they have made 12 arrests over the past two days. Eight of them happened early Wednesday morning, March 30, 2016.
Police say they responded to Kirkwood and Grand Avenue at 11:52 p.m. Tuesday. Police say they found shell casings and a suspect vehicle at the scene, which led to a high speed chase throughout the city.
The 11-minute chase ended at State Street as the suspects tried to get on Interstate 74 in Bettendorf, according to a statement from the Davenport Police Department. They had tried to go the wrong way onto the off ramp of the I-74 Bridge. Initial reports indicated that they lost control of their vehicle underneath the bridge.
Police said eight people ran from the van and ultimately four adults and four juveniles were taken into custody in Bettendorf.
"A handgun was recovered and possible evidence related to the shots fired incident at Kirkwood and Grand," the statement said.
The following people were arrested and charged with interference with official acts with a firearm: 29-year-old Davon Wright, 28-year-old Nicholas Brown, 27-year-old Jawuan Shorter, 22-year-old Colique Brown, and four teenagers (two age 17 and two age 16). In addition, Wright was charged with felony eluding.
There were no reports of injuries.
A Davenport Police car and the suspect vehicle were both damaged, but nothing major.
