DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — Police say a Dubuque man was seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash pushed his vehicle into a nearby home.
The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports that 54-year-old David A. Gatena was taken to a local hospital. The wreck happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Police say 40-year-old Jamie J. Birch of Dubuque was driving south at a high rate of speed when his vehicle struck the passenger side of a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Anthony Gatena. The force of the crash pushed Anthony Gatena’s vehicle over a curb, into a stop sign and into a nearby home.
Authorities say David and Anthony Gatena had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Birch was cited for speeding, failure to provide proof of insurance and failure to maintain control of his vehicle.
