DAVENPORT, Iowa-- Chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs line the counter at Lagomarcino's where business has been non-stop all week.

"It was super busy. Everyone was buying a bunch of eggs, and we're pretty much wiped out," says store employee Grace Kadavy.

The shop sold more than 3,800 chocolate eggs and more than 4,000 rabbits this Easter season despite a worldwide cocoa shortage.

According the Wall Street Journal, cocoa production is down nearly 40-percent due to bad weather conditions and poor farming techniques. This all comes when demand for chocolate is at an all time high.

"We're not going to be premature in passing on any additional price increases if they're not warranted," says Tom Lagomarcino.

Although Lagomarcino hasn't personally felt the effects on the cocoa shortage, it's something he monitors very carefully.

"As business people you have to see your costs of ingredients and supplies. It's just part of being in business," says Lagomarcino.

People in the Quad Cities can still find their Easter favorites without breaking the bank, at least for now.
