The Quad Cities may be closer to Iowa City than Ames, but Iowa State Cyclone fans wore their school colors with pride for Friday's NCAA Tournament game. Cyclone fans aren't afraid to show off their school pride, even when the game isn't going their way.

"That`s the thing about Cyclone fans, you`ll see them here, good or bad, they`ll be for the team and keep rooting," Iowa State fan Tom Messer said.

The back room at Me & Billy's in Davenport was packed full of fans doing just that. Even some of the youngest Cyclones got in on the excitement.

"A Cyclone here and a Cyclone there. Here a Cyclone, there a Cyclone, everywhere a Cyclone," Iowa State fan Brandon Drawz sang to his daughter, Hero.

The Drawz family traveled all the way from Morrison, Illinois because they wanted to see this game with other fans just like them.

"Mama is a Cyclone, her name is Charidy. She really wanted to be around more Cyclones to watch the game," Drawz said.

That's where the local Iowa State Alumni group comes in handy. Travis Sullivan and his wife, Jillian, moved to the Quad Cities last spring and looked to find a way to meet other Iowa State fans.

"It`s amazing how many Cyclone fans there are. I don`t think people really realize how many Cyclone fans there are in the Quad City area," Sullivan said.

The group is growing, and the team's success has more people showing up for each event.

"If you watch Iowa State basketball at all, there`s time when you get a little nervous, so it`s nice to have other fans here to keep you on an even keel," Sullivan said.

Their tournament run may be over, but these fans are ready to add more Quad City members to Cyclone Nation.

The loss may have been disappointing for the fans, but they were all excited about the turn out for the Sweet 16 game watch party, something they hope to continue for football season in the fall.
