IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Police have arrested an Iowa City man in connection with the 1985 shooting death of a 22-year-old man found dead on the University of Iowa's Oakdale campus in Coralville.

Johnson County Jail officials told The Associated Press that 57-year-old Anthony W. Burtch was in custody on Thursday morning in the death of Lance Lee DeWoody. He's charged with first-degree murder and is held on a $1 million bond.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and police in Coralville were expected to hold a news conference Wednesday afternoon announcing the arrest.

University employees found DeWoody's body near what was the general hospital parking lot in August 1985. The death puzzled investigators for years. DeWoody's autopsy showed he had suffered two gunshot wounds.

DeWoody was a native of Olin who had moved to North Liberty and was working in the Iowa City area.
