The Rock Island Health and Human Services Committee is suspending all actions of the Hope Creek Care Center Advisory Committee. "There's a question as it relates to their authority, and there's a question as it relates to their actions," said John McGehee, said Rock Island County States Attorney.

According to McGehee the committee may not have been following the Illinois Open Meetings Act, "I don't think that they did that on purpose I think they were just uncertain as it relates to the law on open meetings," said McGehee.

Some of the Rock Island County Board Members said that the committee may not understand their responsibilities with the center's private managing company, Health Dimensions Group, "Of course when that happens one chairman thinks the other chairman is possibly interfering with their responsibility and it relates to a lot of confusion," said Don Johnston, Rock Island County Board Member.

The Hope Creek Advisory Committee was established to act as a buffer between the county board and the Health Dimensions Group, taking politics out of Hope Creek."I'm concerned that maybe the county is still entrenched in running the day to day operations or maybe their a little too involved," said Drue Mielke, Rock Island County Board Member.

There's still a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to the committee but both board members hope for the best. McGehee said the next step is they have to go back to the Health and Human Services Committee and the County Administrator on how to move forward with the Advisory Board.
