Dozens of college students from Illinois are among the Americans stranded in Brussels.
57 students and faculty from the University of Illinois are in Belgium on study abroad programs. A group of 18 students from DePaul University is also in Brussels to study diplomacy. They were about to board a train for Brussels when they heard about the subway explosion.
Three students from Massachusetts were at the airport buying tickets to London when the first blast happened.
The group of DePaul students is still in the Brussels area hoping to continue their studies at the NATO headquarters.
