BETTENDORF, IA - Police say they've caught two teens on a crime spree in the Quad Cities.  They had been through multiple states before ending at a local hotel. "It's not something that we always run across," said Captain Keith Kimball, Bettendorf Police Department.

"We had a male white juvenile, age 17, leave the state, runaway from Arkansas, took his grandmothers vehicle without permission, and picked up an old girlfriend he used to know from Louisiana, 15-year-old," said Kimball.

Police said they've been criss-crossing the country from Georgia, to the Carolinas and up to Ohio, Indiana and ending in the Quad Cities.  Kimball said sometime between the night of Wednesday, March 16th and morning of Thursday, March 17th they targeted unlocked cars on Sapphire Lane, Friendship Path and Montana Court.

"They came across most likely 80 in Iowa and probably got off the middle road exit there in the north east part of our town when they committed these vehicle burglaries and garage burglaries," said Kimball.

Kimball added that any garage door openers inside the unlocked cars were "how they were able to get into those garages."

According to police they grabbed purses, wallets and electronics. On Thursday a woman reported her credit card stolen and reported to police that it had been used at the Hotel Davenport and Convention Center.

Kimball said that's where they found the teens and the stolen car.  Inside the car they found numerous stolen items, as well as two handguns that were stolen from North and South Carolina.

According to police, both teens are being held at the Scott County Juvenile Detention Center with charges for theft, burglary and carrying weapons.
