Time for another look back at the rich history of the Quad City Region. WQAD News 8 has teamed up with Retro Quad Cities to give you four glimpses of our past each week.

We start with Rock Island's Majestic Theatre. It stood on 18th Street at First Avenue, and opened prior to 1910. In August 1929 it was remodeled and re-opened as the Riviera Theatre and had seating for 650 people! Like a number of Rock Island`s movie houses, it is long gone. It closed for good in the mid 1950s. A close inspection of the bottom-right part of the photo shows the word "Ferry" as this was before the Centennial Bridge was built across the river.
