Around 30 Augustana students were rehoused after a tree fell onto their apartment building during the Tuesday night storms.

A large tree fell onto the roof of the Arbaugh Townhouses on the Augustana campus around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Most of the students living there are juniors at Augie.

Sam Schlouch, the Director of Public Relations at Augustana College, said all the students impacted by the tree-fall are safe and uninjured, and were allowed back into their apartments Friday morning to retrieve some of their belongings. They have been temporarily rehoused.

"They are taking it in stride, and we really do appreciate their patience with this. obviously it's not something that we wish would ever happen, but Augustana students are pretty resilient so we're grateful for that."

One student said she and her friends were inside the building when the storms hit and felt the entire building shake when the tree fell down.

Crews were working to remove the tree on Wednesday. They will know more about when the students can move back into their apartments when the tree is off the roof.

The Augustana baseball batting cages and fences were also damaged in the high winds and storms.
