Crews working on water main break in Sterling, no boil order

STERLING, Illinois — Residents in Sterling, Illinois may experience low water pressure or discolored water due to a water main break in the 10th block of E. Third Street.

Illinois American Water Company says there is no boil order in effect and the water is safe to drink. Anyone who sees water discoloration should let the water run for a short time until it is clear.

The 10th block of E. Third Street is closed to all traffic as crews are working to fix the damage. Detour signs are in place.

The water main damage was reported by the Sterling Police Department at 5:40 a.m. Sunday morning, March 13. Anyone with questions regarding their water can call the IAWC at 800-422-2782.
