What’s Happening

A 5k race and a parade will surround a weekend’s worth of festivities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the Quad Cities.  With all the celebrating, streets will be closed temporarily.

On Saturday, March 12, 2016, the celebrations will kick off with the annual CASI St. Patrick’s Day Race at 10 a.m.  Click here to see a map of the parade route.

At 11:30 a.m. the Grand Parade XXXI will begin at 23rd Street and 4th Avenue in Rock Island.  The parade routes through downtown Rock Island, goes across the Centennial Bridge, and continues through downtown Davenport.  Click here to see a map of the parade. 

Plenty of bars and eateries will be open after the parade Saturday.  Live entertainment will be at Daiquiri Factory, Gunchie’s, RIBCO, and Bent River Brewing Co.  Kavanaugh’s Hilltop hosts Click here to see the specials and entertainment in Rock Island.

In Davenport, a Post Parade Bash will be held at the River Center.  Also downtown, various restaurants will have drink specials and entertainment, including Barrel House, Me & Billy, Mac’s Tavern, Kilkelnny’s Pub, Carriage Haus, and Great River Brewery.  Kelly’s Irish Pub & Eatery hosts a two-day party that features skydiving leprechauns, bagpipers, Irish dancers, and more.   Harrington’s Pub also throws a St. Patty’s party. They have live music, dueling guitars, and drink specials.

Which streets will be closed

Streets downtown Davenport will be closed for the race and along the parade route.  Here are the locations and times roads are expected to close on Saturday:

  • From 5 a.m. to noon: 2nd Street from Harrison Street to Brady Street and Main Street from 3rd Street to south of 2nd Street
  • From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.: 2nd Street from Harrison Street to Ripley Street
  • From 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.: 3rd Street from Gaines Street to Brady Street. Part of Brady from 3rd to 4th Streets along with Harrison Street from 3rd Street to River Drive.
  • From 9:45 a.m. to 11 a.m.: 3rd Street from Gaines Street to Division Street
  • From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Iowa-bound Centennial Bridge along with 3rd Street from Brady to LeClaire Avenue

The parade route will cover the following streets in Rock Island:

  • 2nd Avenue from 15th Street to 17th Street
  • 17th Street from 2nd Avenue to 3rd Avenue
  • 3rd Avenue from 17th Street to 20th Street
  • 20th Street from 3rd Avenue to 4th Avenue
  • 4th Avenue from 20th Street to just west of 23rd Street

Where to Park 

In Davenport, the Redstone parking ramp at Main Street and River Drive will be available during the festivities.  The River Center and Harrison Street parking ramps will be difficult to get to.  People parked at the River Center ramp have to exit onto 2nd Street.

In Rock Island there are multiple parking lots and on-street parking. Click here to see a map of where you can park in Rock Island (we highlighted the parade route in green).

The actual St. Patrick’s Day holiday is celebrated Thursday, March 17.
