MARQUETTE, Iowa (AP) — Authorities in northeast Iowa are looking for stolen guns and whoever took them from a police department.

Chief Jason Bogdonovich of the Mar-Mac Unified Police Department reported the theft to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, which is handling the investigation. Bogdonovich says the guns were taken sometime between Feb. 8 and Feb. 17 from a Marquette city garage attached to the Police Department building while the building was being renovated.

Clayton County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brent Ostrander says the number of guns taken and details about them aren’t being disclosed, and he won’t say whether someone forced entry into the garage to steal them.

The Mar-Mac department serves the cities of Marquette and McGregor.
