TUCUMCARI, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico State Police say a 65-year-old Iowa man was killed in a head-on collision on Interstate 40 in eastern New Mexico.
Police say Michael Ryan of Ottumwa, Iowa, was killed when a westbound tractor-trailer rig crossed the median and collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Ryan.
An unidentified passenger in Ryan’s vehicle was critically injured, while the occupants of the truck weren’t injured.
Police say their investigation continues and it’s not immediately known why the truck crossed the median.
The accident occurred late Monday near Tucumcari.
