Davenport man gets 30 years in prison after he sold crack to undercover buyers

A 33-year-old Davenport, Iowa man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for conspiracy to sell crack cocaine.

A 33-year-old Davenport, Iowa man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for conspiracy to sell crack cocaine.

Brandon Jermaine Sykes was busted after a confidential source – working for law enforcement – bought crack cocaine from him, at his Davenport home, on four different occasions, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Sykes was accused of getting powder cocaine from people in Chicago, then converting it to crack that he would sell to customers in Davenport.

Sykes pleaded guilty in December 2015 to conspiracy to distribute at least 280 grams of crack cocaine, the statement said.

Sykes was sentenced in federal court on March 3, 2016; his prison term will be followed by five years of supervised release.
