DAVENPORT, Iowa — The starting line of this year's annual CASI St. Patty's Day Race got decked out in shamrocks today.

A group of the Quad City Painter's apprentices volunteered their time to paint shamrocks on the corner of Second and Main streets in downtown Davenport. This is the second year the apprentices have painted the shamrocks.

The green clovers were painted free hand and using stencils. The bright pops of green are a festive way to mark the start and finish of the 34th annual 5K race, which will be held 9 a.m. this Saturday, March 12.

Last year, the race brought in more than $65,000 for the Center for Active Seniors.
