A Rock Island newborn will celebrate a very special birthday every four years. She was born on Leap Day, Monday, February 29, 2016.
At 5:41 a.m., mom Kasey Kirkhove gave birth to baby Kabel - who arrived about five days early. Before her baby was even born, Kasey's friends were predicting a Leap Day baby.
"Everybody was like, "You have a good chance of having a Leap Year baby," and I was like, "That'd be a hassle." I feel like that would be a hassle, like, "Oh, when's your birthday? February 29th. It's not on the calendar,"" Kasey said.
Kasey and her husband have yet to decide whether they'll celebrate Kabel's birthday on February 28th or March 1st. Through the potential "hassle," Kasey says she's glad to have a unique story to tell her son.
