NEVADA, Iowa (AP) — A wallet that went missing in 1944 has been found at an Iowa building that houses an old theater.
Des Moines television station KCCI reports that Larry Sloan and his wife own the building in Nevada and have transformed the former movie theater into a comedy club. The wallet was found on a beam during renovations to apartments on an upper floor of the building.
A pocket calendar in the wallet shows the wallet had been put on the beam or fallen there in 1944. The wallet also held faded photos, an ID and some World War II ration stamps.
Sloan did some sleuthing and discovered the wallet owner, 85-year-old Clare McIntosh, now lives in Runnels. McIntosh got back his wallet on Monday, February 22, 2016.
