Police were sent to 250 53rd Street at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 after someone called 911 and reported finding a woman's body at the house.  Investigators determined the woman was 39-year-old Michelle Woods, and her death was called suspicious.

Police said Michelle Woods died of traumatic injuries to her head and neck.

Maurice Hines, who lived with Michelle Woods at the time of her death, identified himself as a person of interest in the case.

An ex-girlfriend said Hines had a violent temper when they were together, and court records showed at least five women had been issued orders of protection against Hines over a period of about seven years.

Two years later, Woods' death remains unsolved; it remains under investigation by Moline detectives and Illinois State Police.

Moline Police ask anyone with information about Michelle Woods' murder to contact them or Crime Stoppers at (309) 762-9500.
