Anyone who makes $62,000 or less can file their 2015 federal taxes electronically for free by using IRS Free File. The program is a partnership between the IRS and tax software manufacturers that allow you to fill in the blanks and file forms 1040 EZ, 1040A or 1040.
According to their website, IRS Free File will will look at tax credits and interest deductions and do the math for you. If you owe taxes, a payment plan can be set up through the software. If you will receive a refund, you can have the money deposited directly into your bank account.
2015 federal taxes are due April 18, 2016. If you can’t make the deadline, the software can help you request a six month extension.
