A Rock Island family was displaced after a fire broke out at their home.
Firefighters arrived at the home in the 1300 block of 14th Street around 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016, according to Fire Marshal Greg Marty. It took fire crews 30-40 minutes to get the fire under control because the home was already heavily engulfed in flames when they arrived.
According to the home owner, the fire started in the living room, but there was no word yet on what the cause was; Marty said the home was a total loss.
Everyone got out safely and there were no reported injuries. The Red Cross was helping the three women and one child that lived there with necessities after the fire. There were three women and one child living in the home.
Crews were still on scene around 6:30 p.m.
