Dancers from the Ballet Quad Cities joined elementary schools in Davenport for story time, but with a twist.
"We are teaching these kids how to tell a story without words. We do that by first reading them the story and then getting them to create the movements," said Ballet Quad Cities dancer, Patrick Green.
"Dance Me a Story" is a program sponsored by the ballet company. It allows students to physically interpret a story through movement while at the same time providing an interactive approach to learning new vocabulary words.
The story, "Snow Days" by Lynn Plourde, described activities children typically do when school is canceled for the day due to bad weather.
This program was made possible by The Bechtel Trusts, Hubbell-Waterman Foundation, Iowa Arts Council and Humanities Iowa.
