A Wilton man was sentenced to six years in prison after a stolen, semi-automatic, Yugoslavian rifle was found in the crawl space of his home.

Firearms were reported stolen in Morrison, Illinois in February 2015; in late march, police searched the home of 29-year-old Brandon Lysle VanBlarcom.  That’s when, police said, they found a Yugoslavian SKS 7.62 x 39 caliber rifle hidden in a crawl space, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The gun was stolen in the Morrison burglary, the statement said.

VanBlarcom was sentenced Friday, January 29, 2016, to six years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and a fine of $200.

VanBlarcom was also convicted of felony second-degree burglary in 2005.
