Worldwide, John Deere employees collectively logged more than 104,500 hours of volunteer work in their communities in 2015.

That’s over 4,354 days, or nearly 12 years worth of volunteer work.

According to a statement from Ken Golden, the director of Global Public Relations, their volunteer services increased by 21% from 2014.

“It’s important for Deere and its employees to support the many organizations that help enhance communities around the world,” said Mara Downing, Director of Corporate Citizenship and Global Brand Management.

The company’s volunteer efforts are made through the John Deere Foundation, which is a global employee volunteer program, and through corporate contributions, the statement said.

On World Food Day, about 5,300 employees worked to package 1.4 million meals for food banks in the U.S., Golden’s statement said. Over in Germany, 300 employees packaged 6,000 food parcels for food banks in four of their John Deere communities.

In the Quad Cities, which is where the company’s headquarters are located, about 1,800 employees volunteered for the United Way’s Day of Caring.

“In total, we estimate our investments in citizenship activities helped improve the lives of more than 15 million people across the globe,” Downing said.

The company and the foundation contributed $28 million in its citizenship efforts across 12 countries, according to the statement.
