Bettendorf Police were searching for a lifted pickup truck, with large tires, that is the suspect vehicle in an alleged road rage hit-and-run.

Injuries were reported when a silver Ford Windstar van was rammed and run off the road as it was eastbound on Interstate 80, between the rest area and the exit to Middle Road, just before 5 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016.  Just before the incident, the suspect vehicle was seen leaving the area of Menards, by Brady Street and I-80 in north Davenport.

The suspect vehicle, a lifted pickup truck with large tires, continued eastbound on I-80. Investigators think it has some damage to the driver's side body and possible damage to the driver's side wheels as well.

Police called it an incident of road rage.

"Based on damage to the victim vehicle, tires (on the truck) are believed to be between 35 and 40 inches in height" with black rims, said a statement from the Bettendorf Police Department.  The truck was described as a black Ford F250 diesel Super Duty, with an extended cab and a topper over the bed.  All of the windows are tinted except the front windshield.

Days later, on Thursday January 28, it was announced that Bettendorf Police had identified and spoken with the driver involved in the road rage incident. The driver's was being withheld as police continued their investigation. Charges were pending.

"The Bettendorf Police Department would like to thank the public for keeping their eyes open and their willingness to assist by calling in leads and information regarding possible vehicles that matched the description that may have been involved," said a statement from the City of Bettendorf.
