Jane Allen is discovering a world of words on every wall.

"We want to bring life to people," she said.

Life from words that became so precious.

The Bettendorf woman found comfort in words while emerging from stage three ovarian cancer.

"It gave me hope," she said.  "Hope is in words."

Now, she's literally in the business of words, letters and numbers.

Letter2Word became a reality after artist Sally Dailey painted a home project for her.

"There's love that goes into each one," Allen said.

Letter2Word is a Davenport business that finds beauty in the shape of letters.

They're discovering signs of the times.

"The way you put it together can be slang, stylish or of the moment," said Dailey.  "But I just think the longevity of words is forever."

Out of illness came inspiration for a business.

These days, they have customers in all 50 states.

Starting from scratch two years ago, the four-person staff sells up to one thousand orders each month.

Items cost from roughly $25-75.

Everything they sell is made in the USA.

Customers are discovering them online at http://www.letter2word.com.

They also sell on websites like Wayfair and Zulilly.

"The fonts are endless," Allen said.  "The opportunities are endless. Words choose you."

From their colorful lunch room to their beautiful bathroom, their words come off the wall.

"It adds such a vibrant look," Allen said.

The shapes and sizes make quite a statement.

That's the case with a set resembling typewriter keys.

"It's vintage," she added.

"If we take a piece out, we add a new piece," said Dailey.  "We're trying to keep it condensed and important."

What's in a letter here?

Much more than shapes and squiggles, it's a life force.

For Jane Allen, something that symbolizes a victory over cancer.

"I truly believe that God takes from the ashes and makes something beautiful," she concluded.  "And this is something beautiful."

A beautiful triumph that's simply letter-perfect.
