We're waking up to below-zero temperatures across the board this Monday morning. It's certainly been colder. Last year we had some temperatures as cold as -20 degrees! But the cold this morning is coming with a northwesterly wind 10-20 mph. That wind is what's causing this cold to be so dangerous.

Why it’s more important to look at Wind Chills than Temperature

When the winds are gusty, our body heat is blown away from our bodies. This means it's harder for our bodies to keep our core temperature up. Still, it's possible to shield yourself from the extreme cold by insulating our bodies under several layers of clothing.

When the wind chills get below -20 degrees, medical attention is needed for any skin exposed to the elements for 30 minutes or so.
