Visitors staying at the Best Western in Muscatine woke up in shock early Saturday morning.

"I went down by my buddy's car. His car really looked bad," says one hotel guest.

It was the scene of the aftermath of a situation that started hours earlier when a car was reported stolen from the Guadalajara restaurant on 2nd Street in downtown Muscatine.

A Muscatine County Sheriff's deputy spotted the car on Highway 61 near University Boulevard shortly after and stopped it in the Best Western parking lot.

That's when 41-year-old Timothy Seefeldt, the driver of the reportedly stolen car, tried fleeing the scene, smashing into vehicles already parked in the lot.

That's when cops fired multiple shots, one hitting Seefeldt in the chest.

Several cars were damaged in the process, one totaled.

An employee at the hotel tells News 8 her car was also hit, leaving her with a bent wheel, a vehicle she cannot drive anymore.

Seefeldt was taken to the University of Iowa Hospital for treatment. His injury is non life threatening.

The investigation is still on going.
