Two Powerball tickets, worth $1 million each, sold in Illinois

Two tickets sold in Illinois are $1 million winners in the unprecedented $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Two tickets sold in Illinois are $1 million winners in the unprecedented $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot.

Numbers were drawn Wednesday night and Powerball officials say three winning tickets were purchased in California, Florida and Tennessee.

Powerball officials say there were 893,220 winners in Illinois ranging from $4 prizes to a pair of $1 million winners who matched five numbers but didn’t have the Powerball. The winning numbers are 4-8-19-27-34 and Powerball 10.

The three winners of the world-record jackpot overcame odds of 1 in 292.2 million. They can take the winnings in annual payments spread over decades or a smaller amount in a lump sum.

The estimated jackpot amounts had risen steadily since Nov. 4, when it was reset at $40 million.
