The fire started at 11:53 Saturday Morning at National Railway, located on 900 North 9th street in Silvis. Silvis’ Police Chief Mark VanKlaveren says the business works on railroad cars and engines. The Silvis Fire Department responded and request mutual aid.
The fire started in the paint booth area of the building. As of 2:59 pm the fire seemed to be contained. It is unknown at this time how the fire started. Chief Van Klaveren says all employees made it out without injuries and there does not appear to be any public safety issues resulting from the fire.
