On Saturday people across the nation got together to show extra appreciation for law enforcement. Dozens of people in the Quad Cities showed their support at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds.

Every agency in the QC area were represented at the event. And Davenport Police Captain Brent Biggs says nights like these are important.

"We're here to make a difference. That could be in the smallest ways, and we try to do that everyday whether it's a call or a positive community interaction," says Captain Biggs.

It was a packed house just ten minutes in, everyone coming to pick up a blue ribbon or to sign thank you cards.

Sandra Sievert, a co-organizer of the event, says she understands the risks officers take when they put on their uniform and head to work.

"There's been three officer shootings in the last 24 hours. Any day they go out could be their last, and they do it willingly," says Sievert.
