It’s the least-fun part of the holidays, taking down the decorations. The lights go back in storage, the ornaments go back in their boxes, and your Christmas tree has to go.

Here are what some QC area communities offer to help you dispose of your live Christmas tree–

Clinton County: Residents can bring their natural Christmas trees to the Clinton County Area Solid Waste Agency at 4292 – 220th Street in Clinton, Iowa for free recycling. Their hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Click here for more information.

Galesburg, Illinois: From December 26 through January 3, residents can bring their real Christmas tree to Lowe’s parking lot for recycling.  This drop-off is sponsored by the City of Galesburg, Lowe’s and Waste Management.

Moline: From January 4 – 15, the city will be offering curbside pickup for Christmas trees on residents’ regular garbage pickup day.

Rock Island: From December 28 through January 8, residents can set their natural Christmas trees out for free curbside pickup on their regular garbage collection day.  Trees have to be free of decorations and stands, and must be at least three feet away from garbage carts; they will be picked up by a separate truck.

Curbside pickup is available for the following cities in Scott County, Iowa. Visit the Waste Commission of Scott County’s website for more information.

Bettendorf: Between December 28 and January 8, live Christmas trees will be picked up at the curb for free. Residents can dispose of their trees on their regular collection day. There cannot be any lights, stands or decorations attached to the trees, nor can the trees be bagged.
